IS ALL PROGRAM ATTENDANCE REQUIRED?

Yes, along with our Sunday, Monday and Wednesday classroom program, Shabbat Initiative and Shabbatonim are an integral part of the curriculum.

The Shabbat Initiative is part of our “Living Jewish Lives” initiative thanks to the grant we were awarded by the Gladys K. Crown Foundation.  Once a month, SSRS families will participate in either a BSKI or Shaare Zedek intergenerational participatory service.

Shabbat attendance will be required 9 times throughout the year.  Students can be members of the “Chai Club” and “Double Chai Club” by attending 18 and 36 services or more.  Students who successfully attend at least 9 services will be eligible to attend “Bowling with the Rabbis.”  Students who achieve “Chai Club” and “Double Chai Club” will receive a silver (18) or a golden (36) kippah!   A chart will be posted at both BSKI and Shaare Zedek.  Students will place a dot next to their name for each service attended.  As different plateaus are achieved, students will get to add their name to the “Shul Goers Board” and receive a small token.   All services will count; Mincha, Maariv, Shabbat, Drum circle (@ SZ), etc.  If you attend a service elsewhere, please let me know during the week.  Services attended elsewhere will count up to 2 times a year.

How do I open this attachment?

"I have this attachment and it won't open! It is a .docx file."

I hear it all the time. In about five minutes, you can be reading what ever was sent to you and all for free. I am assuming you have a Windows computer and Microsoft Office XP, or 2003. Good, OK, next. Download and install the Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. from Microsoft. You can also find it by Googling office 2003 2010 converter.

If you have Office 2007, you should be able to open Office 2010 documents without a problem.

If you do not have Microsoft Office and have say, Microsoft Works, you will need an upgrade. Microsoft Office Home is about $100 and widely available.

Want a free program? OpenOffice and Libreoffice are both free for download. The fifferences between the two are very slight and both open all of the Microsoft Office file formats.
