The meeting was lightly attended and called to order by Beth Rubin substituting for Ruth Battle.

The first order of business was communication. One of the parents at the meeting did not get the email that school was called last week (12-12). Two did not see the notice on KSDK, and One did not see it on the web page. Several parents did not get a notice of the Parents' Committee meeting.

Resolved: A Parent will assist in sending meeting email announcements. Anita will provide the volunteer with an up to date email list.

As per the Agenda, Several other parental volunteers were sought. Given the light turnout for the meeting, only the communications position was filled. The other positions are: Education Liaison, Teacher Support/Fund-raising, and Schools out activities.

Fund-raising was discussed. We need a chairperson for the Passover Chocolate Fundraiser. To be successful, the Passover Chocolate Fundraiser should begin in January. Anita mentioned that there was a parent who would like to help, but not be in charge. There was a lively discussion about fund-raising in general. No one liked door to door selling as a fundraiser. Various "non selling" fundraiser activities were discussed.

Resolved: There are several people who are waiting for the Passover Chocolate Fundraiser to begin to order chocolates. We should find a person to chair this event soon. The webmaster will setup online ordering on the webpage to facilitate the sale.

The BSKI/SZ merger was discussed. One person asked about rumors and the reply was that the two committees working on a merger would prefer announcements to rumors. The merger meetings are continuing at a prudent and careful pace. It was noted that while the parents seem to show a BSKI vs SZ split, the children do not make the distinction.

The next meeting: It was resolved that the parents' committee would meet on the following Sundays: February 6, March 6, April 3 and May 1. The February 6 meeting will be from 10:05 until 11:00 at BSKI.

The meeting was adjurned at 11:00 am.
